Excellent product, I purchased this in the spring, and waited until I put it through its paces to see how well it works before reviewing. I have used it with the basic weber grill setup and the extra rack that comes with this setup. Outstanding results for ribs, chicken, duck, beef and pork roasts and chops. Bacon wrapped beer can burgers were super delicious with the smokey flavor. I also have used the smokenator in conjunction with the weber rotisserie, and the ribolator (another great product, different company). Outstanding results with all uses. I use it with both wood chunks and chips. Add chunks of wood before lighting the smoker and chips after lighting. For longer smoking, I use an additional pan of water or left over marinade to be sure I have enough moisture. This also helps protect against the included water pan running out of water, which may need to be added about every 40 minutes or so. It also helps maintain a good steady low and slow temperature as well as keeping food moist. Very easy to setup and use. Highly recommend.
I found I like to use one hand to set the hover grill on the concrete for a couple of minutes while tending the meat on the main grill. This was a problem at first as the folding legs collapsed inwards when I picked it up making it necessary to use both hands to set it down. Both on the concrete and when returning it to the grill. My solution was to carefully weld the legs permanently open. Problem solved. Others may need the legs to fold. What ever works for you is best. Just an idea for those who ran into the same problem I did.

well,I love my weber 22.5 and use it all the time. I have been wanting a smoker for awhile but didnt want to spend upwards of 400 bucks. This is where the smokenator comes in. I will admit that if you do not want to tend the coals and add water every hour, then you will not be happy. I personally had no problem mowing grass for an hour, then tending smoker, doing dishes, tending smoker, shooting my bow, tending smoker….it goes on. lol
My first attempt was 8 lb pork butt. That took 14 hrs and was pretty good. but my second attempt was 3 racks of spare ribs, and 8 lb turkey breast and about 8 chicken sausages (that got put in about halfway through the cook). They turned out awsome!!! I have had very few ribs that matched what I turned out that day,and my wife said she wants one turkey breast done like this a month. lol all in, the second cook took only 7 hrs and was very pleasant compared to my nervous first attempt. this product gave me the courage to try smoking and also the desire to learn more tips tricks to turn out even better Q .
one note that has been echoed in these reviews…read that manual!!!! He spent alot of time on the use of this product and it shows in the printed material.
Also everything you learn from this item can crossover to your bigger better smoker down the road.
    good luck, Matt and Deb

I have been using this for over six years. Its great and produces results as good as an offset smoker I had, but is a lot easier to use. But unlike the offset smoker (or most dedicated smokers), your Weber 22 inch kettle is also a good direct heat grill.

I have smoked brisket, salmon, chicken, hard cheese, pork, and ribs. When following directions it reliably keeps kettle at ideal hot smoke temperature of 225 to 250 for 4 to 6 hours without being fussed with (unlike the offset smoker.) I also use it to briefly smoke hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, salmon fillets etc before finishing with a reverse sear on a hot gas grill.

You can smoke food on coal grate and main grate simultaneously, and by adding the same company’s Hovergrill you get more capacity than Weber Smoky Mountain.

Just follow included directions as well as checking directions at the Amazing Ribs website. A remote reading digital thermometer is a really useful accessory. Use regular Kingsford briquets (as instructions say) and use a chunk of smoking wood. Not chips and don’t use a lot.

For brisket you may need to refill it with briquets once or twice during smoke. If you use included water pan that needs to be refilled every hour or two. Or you can set bread loaf pan full of water next to Smokenator on the charcoal grate. And refill every 3 to 4 hours.

All in, its a great product that works better than claimed.

First of all, I’ve never “smoked” any meat until i got this. I had been reading on how to smoke meat and had even went and looked at some smokers. The realty was that i really didn’t know “what I didn’t know” and I didn’t want to purchase a smoker and find out i should have went in a different direction. I already had a gas grill and had purchased a Weber Performer this summer, at yard sale, hoping, to take my grilling up a notch in general. So, I ran across on a couple of Rib Smoking type website touting how good this was, so i decided to try it. Guys I have to tell you. It works. I planned out my meat, got my rub, read the booklet and waited for Saturday. I follow the instructions in the booklet and made some fantastic ribs. They were absolutely delicious. I set the dampers like the book said and my Temp fired up at 220 degrees and never moved unless i screwed with it. Yesterday, I told my wife i was going to make some and take the leftovers to work and she asked me not too!

My only semi-complaint is the hoover grill could have been made a little better. It comes across cheap but it does what it’s intended.

Moral of my story, if you have a weber and have wanted to try your hand at Smoking – you can not lose.

On a side note: my ribs look exactly like the picture – no kidding
